Supporting Local Merchants – Nov. 29th #SmallBizSat

Why_Shop_Small_Infographic

In case you didn't know, Small Business Saturday began in the United States of America as a special day for shoppers to spend time and dollars with local merchants. The frenzy of Black Friday and Cyber Monday were leaving Mom & Pop shops lagging behind large retailers and kicked to the curve by online retailers. The solution came up as an initiative of American Express in 2010, when the first Shop Small Saturday was proclaimed and promoted by government and private entities. Shoppers responded by heading over to their local shops at the beginning of the holiday season and spending where it counts: In their neighborhoods, local economies benefit and overall sense of community is nurtured. Small Business Saturday is the Saturday following Thanksgiving Day, you cannot miss it.

Small Business Saturday encourages families to visit  main street shops, experience the care and attention of the small, local, and friendly stores in their neighborhood. If you are a Small Business owner with a brick and mortar shop, go online register for free at SHOP SMALL get your welcoming mat, your poster, your cards, banners, and other marketing materials and join EMPRENDEDORES across the country.
